Hair extensions near Passau
Hair lengthening adds length, thickening adds fullness and colour density adds new colour to your hair. How good the result looks depends on the right technique, careful fitting and the care afterwards. Here I explain what is available, what can go wrong and how we avoid exactly that.
Hannah Schaffer, trained by Great Lengths

The basics
What are hair extensions?
Extensions are individual strands of real human hair that I attach to your own hair. That gives you more length, more fullness or both. I work with Great Lengths and did my training there, too.
You can tell good extensions by the fact that you can’t tell them at all. The colour, texture and fall have to match your hair, and the transitions have to be soft. I take great care over that.
Colour density
New colour in your hair, without dyeing it
With colour density I add individual strands in a different shade. This creates light reflections, soft transitions or more depth, and your own hair never touches dye or bleach. It also becomes a little fuller along the way.
This is especially worthwhile if your hair is already stressed from colouring or if you want to try a new colour without committing straight away. If you no longer like it, we simply take the strands out again.
My technique
Bondings, my technique
Extensions can be attached in different ways, for example with tapes, micro rings, wefts or clip-ins. I work exclusively with bondings, because they are fine, last a long time and can be matched to your hair strand by strand.
How bondings work
Small keratin bonds that are attached to your own hair with heat or ultrasound. They are very fine and stay hidden.
Long-lasting
According to Great Lengths, bondings last about four to six months. Tapes, by comparison, have to be moved up every six to eight weeks.
Matched to your hair
I place every strand individually. That way I add density exactly where your hair needs it, and the transitions stay soft.
For new colour, too
Individual bondings in a different shade create highlights and depth without any colouring.
Process
From consultation to your new length
Consultation
I take a close look at your own hair. Is it strong enough? How long is it, and which colour will match? Afterwards, you’ll know how many strands you need and what it will cost.
Application
I attach the strands one by one, with great care. Depending on how many you need, this takes several hours, so do allow yourself plenty of time.
Care and follow-up
You’ll receive detailed care instructions. At regular intervals, I check that everything is sitting well, and at the end I gently remove the strands again.
Risks
What can happen, and how we avoid it
Extensions are more than a pretty effect: they hang from your own hair. That is why I talk openly about the risks and plan my work accordingly.
Pull on the hair roots
Too many or too heavy strands pull constantly at the root, which can lead to hair loss from tension. So I go by what your hair can carry and, if in doubt, use fewer.
Breakage
This usually comes from poor fitting or pulling strands out. I fit each strand individually and take it out gently. Please never remove extensions yourself.
Matting at the roots
This happens when extensions stay in too long or are rarely brushed. Brush gently every day, plait loosely at night and keep your check-up appointments, and your hair stays easy to comb.
Visible bonds
They show when strands sit too close to the parting or your own hair does not cover them. So I plan exactly where each row goes beforehand.
Tension or itching
If this lasts after fitting, please get in touch straight away and we will loosen or remove the strands. If you have pain or hair loss, please see a dermatologist.
Before you decide
What else to keep in mind
- Your own hair has to be able to carry the strands. If it’s very fine or badly damaged, I’ll honestly advise against it or recommend fewer strands.
- Allow for some time and money. On top of the application, you’ll need suitable care products and follow-up appointments.
- Care at home makes a real difference to how long the extensions stay beautiful. Brush gently, protect the bonds and loosely braid your hair for sleeping.
- Chlorine, salt water and high heat directly on the bonds take their toll on the strands. I’ll talk you through what to look out for on holiday.

Frequently asked questions about hair extensions
How long do hair extensions last?
Great Lengths states around four to six months for its bonds. How long they last for you depends on how quickly your hair grows and how you care for the strands. During your consultation, I’ll tell you what to expect.
Will extensions damage my own hair?
If your hair can carry the strands and they are fitted carefully and taken out in time, the risk is low. No hair extension is entirely without risk, which is why I will also tell you honestly if I advise against it.
What do extensions and hair thickening cost?
The price depends mainly on how many strands you need and how long they are. After the consultation, I’ll give you the price before I start.
Can I get more fullness without more length?
That works, too. With strands in your own length, your hair becomes thicker without getting longer. Individual strands as natural highlights are possible as well.
What is the difference between lengthening, thickening and colour density?
Lengthening adds length, thickening adds fullness at your own length, and colour density adds new colour accents with strands in a different shade. All three can be combined.
Which technique do you use?
Exclusively bondings. In the consultation we look together at whether they suit your hair and how many strands it can carry. If your hair is too fine or damaged for them, I will tell you honestly.
More length, more fullness?
Send me a photo of your hair by WhatsApp or arrange a consultation. We will look together at what suits you.
